I thought of you slink and how you're one of the hardest working activists we have in the progressive community, and how misled and far behind reality the discriminatory mindset was in relation to what deaf Americans actually contribute to the workplace and society on a daily basis.  When I saw the title of this diary, I had a feeling before I even clicked that the diary was about that episode.

The HR people were the hugest cringe moment for me when I was watching it, because in this day and age if those HR people were saying such a thing about a racial minority, they likely would have been afraid to even consider giving such tacit advice out loud - and likely would have been mailed by their now former bosses to Abu Dhabi ala Garfield - but their comfort in playing the two-step game with the hearing impaired suggested an entire human resources/business culture where organized discrimination against the deaf is considered perfectly OK.  Just blur my face, and I'll go back to work discriminating against people, thanks.  Ugh.

an affront to their own prerogatives, and many feel that hiring the disabled is asking for a lawsuit. Makes you want to scream.
