    I tried everything.  This young man was unyielding.  Whether his underlying personality or side effects of his disability, I don't know.  BTW, I taught 165 students a day and had less than one hour in that day to track down or solve any of their problems. Needless to say, preparation (3 different preps) plus grading took place at home.  I lasted 5 years in this kind of difficult work environment, went back to school for an MA and PhD in another field and ended up teaching at the upper division/ graduate level of a university.

      Feel your pain.

      Too many of my friends (very gifted teachers) burnt out.

        required by the state for certification of high school science teachers.  The students headed for teaching were all talented and committed and taking a 5th year to get their certificate.  I don't know of a single one still teaching.
