      especially now.

      Florida has a large base of citizens paying very little tax but using the services disproportionately.

      Our sales tax is too low as well.

        Tell me about it - I live in Alachua County.  People by the thousands drive in on from surrounding rural counties to work here every day, beat the hell out of our infrastucture, then go home and pay half the property taxes we do.  But that's how it works in Florida.  While I would not ENJOY paying a state or local payroll tax, it would do wonders for my property taxes.

        The bottom line is that the old model of depending on constant construction growth for most of our state revenue is over. It was always unsustainable, and the period of sustainability has passed.

          and dealt with both state and provincial income taxes. It wasn't a big deal,particularly in Kentucky, the state tax rate is very low, and you deduct from federal.

          It would be political death to enact one in Florida and with the low wages here I sympathize that it would be an additional burden but our infrastructure must be maintained.
