  •  Um .. the Republicans never wanted "jobs". (12+ / 0-)

It's an open question as to whether many federal Democrats do, either.

The current situation of massive unemployment is very good for keeping people scared and compliant.

    Good diary.

    •  Well, that doesn't benefit Democrats much (1+ / 0-)

because when people are "scared and compliant" they don't vote. Only the angry and crazy do. That's sort of what happened in Ohio. The Ohio Democratic Party ignoring how strongly its women felt about choice was a crucial error too that cost us the state – and I mean that literally. Gov. Kasich is going to cost us every good thing Ohio had. But Gov. Strickland sowed the seeds of his own defeat. He had an anti-choice, anti-gay radical pal he was looking at for lieutenant governor, and when word leaked out, it was made very clear she was unacceptable. So he slated her for secretary of state where she was no more acceptable, and most likely cost him the enthusiasm — and months of volunteering — from women and LGBT groups.

There can be no compromise with the GOP on this issue. They are too far out on Crazy.

      •  Why would I be interested in benefiting (0+ / 0-)

Democrats?  I mean, as a first principle?

I am interested in the principle.  If the Democrats don't fight for jobs, they can rot along with the Republicans.
