  •  Nicely said bh....... (11+ / 0-)

The combination of age and whatever the hell the autoimmune disease is that I am dealing with has affected my cognitive skills  as well.

I have been sooooo frustrated lately. I'm working on acceptance, but it's (its/?) a slow process.

    •  Hang in there, princesspat. (10+ / 0-)

Sorry you're going through that. Are you diagnosed? Or are you still in that medical purgatory of "diagnosing" before you enter the medical hellish maze of treatment?

I gotta tell you, that adjustment isn't easy, perhaps especially on those who have always been "the smart ones" and known all the answers, been able to recall phone numbers and where everything is. Now I'm dealing with swiss cheese brain syndrome (I call it): solid until you hit a black hole.

And I can't read a book. My eyes are so blurred from inflammation, my eyes water up, get blurred, weep and I have to constantly wipe my eyes. I can see only a computer screen b/c it's easier to wipe my eyes. However, my eye tests at the opthamologist weigh in at 20/20 vision. And, no, I don't want Kindle.

Be kind to yourself, is all I can say. Just be kind. Find another way to do, learn, depend on others (I've discussed having mr bh reading to me when we're interested in the same book), get inventive. I realized I had more tricks at my disposal than I thought because I had been using the same ones over and over. Biggest of all was learning to forgive myself without 200 face palms when I posted typos I have never made in my life, let alone let them slip by me after proofing! I can share some of my tricks (just a few) if you want to send me a note. Addy's in my profile.

You're brilliant too. You can figure it out. BTW, nobody except mr bh even sees a change in me. To us, the changes are obvious, much more to me than to him.
