The Egyptian people had been poor, unemployed and miserable for most of the 30 years of Mubarak's reign.

It was when the Tunisian people took to the streets and successfully ousted their dictatorial leader that the Egyptian people were inspired to do likewise.

Given the millions of people who are unemployed or under-employed in the U.S., the millions who are losing their homes and, their jobs and their access to health care, we have more than enough misery in the U.S. right now to justify a revolution here.

The key question is whether the American people will look at what the Tunisians and Egyptians have done, and be inspired to do likewise.

Revolution is as American as Thomas Jefferson and apple pie, but we have to start talking about it and, most important, start talking about what kind of a society we want to create in the U.S.

Capitalism is destroying more and more lives here everyday.  We have to create a new economic system that will put the needs of human beings before private corporate profits.
