  •  If you could elect a progressive (11+ / 0-)

then get one to take Bredesen out in the primary.

If you can't win the primary, then the choice is Bredesen or Corker. Elections come down to the real candidates running, not the candidates running and the Platonic ideal of the perfect Senator.

I will be the first to say that a Nelson or a Manchin fall far short when compared to the ideal.

But they are also better than their Republican alternatives.

Half a loaf, or even a single slice, is better than none.

however the damage they cause to the party by making the caucus look unruly and unfocused (and it is both of those things) and causing gridlock in the Senate ends up getting other Dems unelected when the public gets angry.

It's just one of those bullshit kind of things we have to endire to have a democracy ;).

to put a "Democrat" on their show who will agree with the Republicans.

The Republicans went the other way--their conservative way, or the highway.  Being a Dem no longer stands for anything except, maybe, not totally crazy.  Choosing DINOs is a sure way to continue the decline of liberalism in the US--and ain't working out too well.  I say --Bite the bullet--only support liberals--or start a third party.  The party will no longer get a dime from me--I saw how it supported Bob McIntyre in commercials blasting Pelosi.  Individual candidates only for my money.

          Apres Bush, le deluge.

depending on voter demographics, be able to get a "progressive" to beat Bredesen in the primary.  (Because there won't be a competitive Democratic presidential primary, that'll dampen turnout.)  However, said "progressive" would almost certainly lose to Senator Corker.  Realistically, the choice is Bredesen or Corker, and in my view, that's a very very easy choice to make.
