… when it is used in a way to keep information flowing despite government and corporate attempts to interfere.

You said hacking is action meant to disrupt, but I think you specifically mean DDOS (distributed denial of service) attacks and the like, not hacking in general.

Hacking is different and a much more comprehensive concept than "actions meant to disrupt." On the contrary, the effect can be the exact opposite, emancipatory and liberating.

DDOS, so that is what my comments are geared toward.

Regarding distributing information and HBS, here's how she learned about slavery: through family members and visiting a friend in Kentucky across the border from Ohio where she had been living for a number of years.

In defending her book, she wrote the Key to Uncle Tom's Cabin, which was compiled through public records: newspaper clippings, court transcripts and additionally w interviews.

The problem I have with this whole comparison is that it is different to make a moral case than to just "put information out there". At some point, someone has to consolidate the information into a way that points out the elephant in the room.

Hacking is not writing a novel that changes the world. Hacking is not desegregate lunch counters.

I'm sorry, but hacking just isn't as important as all that.

Just my likely unpopular two cents.
