  •  I am beyond despair...I am in MT and (22+ / 0-)

have advocated for OUR wolves since I lived in California (moved to Montana in 1997). I was never so happy as when they re-introduced and released the first Canadian wolves into Yellowstone in 1995.

One of the most thrilling experiences I have ever had is spotting the wolves in Yellowstone.

Wolves are supposed to kill elk, deer and such as they are PREDATORS and PREDATORS KEEP THE BALANCE. You do not kill predators without a damn good reason - this is basic wildlife biology, but of course this has nothing to do with science or facts and everything to do with politics, hate and ignorance...

I live in a wolf-hating community and every day wolves are being blamed for something - it's almost funny if it wasn't so tragic. This winter we've all had a problem with the elk eating hay and now they are blaming the wolves for this - gee, I guess there couldn't be other reasons...like lots of snow and other factors.

They are blaming the wolves for the low elk numbers while conviently forgetting that human hunters always take down the most magnificent specimens - the males that should be passing their DNA to the next generation - but then you run smack dab into the creationists.

I heard this terrible turn of events today - Wednesday and could not believe that our Democratic guv (he's not so great as a lot of people think) backs this new insidious plan. There is enough illegal killing going without encouraging these assholes. There is an old saying around here "shoot, shovel and shut-up".

It is just so discouraging for people like me who love the wilderness and the wildlife.

I often ask these red-neck assholes "Are these wolves not one of God's creatures too?" I feel that these wolves belong to all of us - not just these callous barbarians. I will call the governor's off ice thursday, but I'm afraid it won't make much of a difference. A Montana judge just sent many (can't remember the exact number) bison to slaughter for leaving Yellowstone - which is what they do to find food - they're just hungry.

I agree 100% that most of these "hunters" just enjoy the killing and don't give a shit about ethics or science.

I'm really beginning to hate what is happening to our country and I really want to leave...I do not relate to most Americans - that's why I hang out here too much...
