  •  I really like the idea of giving that money to (0+ / 0-)

    another State.

I'd rather see it not go to California, 2B could be the start of a nice corridor somewhere else in the country.

I really like the idea of a public and persistent reminder of the money and opportunity lost on Tea Party nonsense.

    •  Well, I'd most like to see successful (1+ / 0-)

projects put together by committed public servants and citizens than throw the money away in a state where those conditions do not exist.  It is more about making the efforts successful - which hopefully will persuade other skeptical states and voters that these programs can be valuable and viable.

Telling them to go screw themselves was our post WWI strategy in Germany and it greatly helped bring about WWII.  Helping Germany and Japan recover after WWII was a much more productive and fruitful response for everyone involved.  Maybe we will have our post-WWII moment in some of these states down the line...

    •  Thanks but if it's just the same to you as (1+ / 0-)

      •  Hey man if you're going to get screwed the (0+ / 0-)

screwers should probably learn a lesson, right?

Not much better than sending it to a neighboring or competing state and then getting salt rubbed in politically.

That way it doesn't have to happen again and you get new blood in power down there.

Of course I would like you guys to keep the project. But I am not interested in seeing a States Rights battle over mandatory Railroads. It sets a bad precedent and gets off topic. Sets up the national debate on HSR as a bunch of Meta crap.

You don't want it Florida? Fine... We'll support someone who does.
