who bargain up front with providers.

Here, at least, labs and hospitals will give you a deep discount if you tell them up front you're paying cash-- so long as you can also pay a portion up front. After all, insurance companies only pay a fraction of the billed cost.

I've thought a lot recently about cenceling our insurance and putting the amount of the premiums in savings every month.  You are so right--there's a false sense of security in paying those premiums. But do I really feel secure Blue Cross would come through if I needed them?  No. I do not.

    Stay well. Literally.

Even though we may enough money to burn on premiums someday in the future, I will never buy another insurance policy from a for-profit entity.

It may be personally foolish but we feel that stongly about it...like paying for "protection" so your store or your legs won't get broken by some goon. The premium money would support sociopathically greedy gangster corporations who I absolutely don't trust with our lives. We're opting out.

You stay well too. May we all stay well.
