Unions need to do a lot more outreach and marketing and PR beyond organizing efforts. They also need to devise leaner organizations that would appeal to knowledge workers..

Unless you're directly benefiting from the fleecing somehow, all your blind investment in establishment politics has bought you, is a dog-and-pony show.

of Police today in Ohio was that as the bill is written they cannot support it.  The guy went on to say that he was willing to make concessions and willing to negotiate on the bill and that he thought the original law passed in 1983 could use some tweaking...but that doesn't mean taking away any ability to bargain at all.  It was a good testimony IMO.

the writing on the wall for his own bargaining rights?

But that point has been made over and over here. It's good that he made it in his testimony.

          •  Thanks for this clip, hon (0+ / 0-)

I'll use it in my next diary about Ohio.

            Glad to see you here.

I sure as hell hope what's happening in WI and OH could never happen in Hawaii. It's not likely, but under Lingle, I wouldn't have been surprised to see such an attempt. Thanks be we got Abercrombie in this time around.

a contract and is going to the table, I think we're good. Unions are strong here.

Of course, I grew up hearing about how Grandmaman worked in the Amoskeag Mills as a child (her and Pepere, actually), so all this is somewhat... ingrained. I've been lurking for ages, but this pushed me over the edge. :)
