  •  You know, there's another aspect I'm noticing. (12+ / 0-)

I used to measure my diaries by their vertical progress; that is, how quickly they got to the Rec list and how long they stayed there.  Because without climbing the Rec list they would quickly wither and die.

Now I'm starting to measure them by horizontal progress.  For example, kos rec'd this diary.  So what, right?  But kos has a wonderful diary this morning where he shares  an original piano composition, and on the right hand side of the page the first thing you see is the title of this diary.  That's a lot of eyeballs.  And this morning's  Pink Clubhouse diary features this diary.  More eyeballs.

A day later this diary is still spreading horizontally throughout the kos-osphere, as are the diaries we're republishing and promoting.

Getting on the Rec list is nice, but no longer strictly necessary for making an impact.

I'm going straight to my comments page most mornings when I log in (which is several times a day) because I am looking to interact even before I start looking at new diaries. It's not about mojo, it's about conversation.

The question is whether anyone else is doing the same; if they are, then some really good extended discussions could develop.
