  •  well this constituent in Wisconsin (9+ / 0-)

just called my state Senator, Chris Larson, and let him know that he's representing me by staying right where he is.  There isn't another option, the Dictator Governor has to be forced to negotiate

    •  What would force him to do so? (0+ / 0-)

You don't think he could wait out these guys? He's got all the levers of power, and they can't even show up in a court to defend themselves or prevent him from usurping even more power. Say he were to simply grant himself powers usually reserved for the legislature. And the only way to stop him was for the legislature to pass a law that it must file suit in a state court to stop him. But without a quorum, they can't pass such a motion. So they'd better get back to the statehouse, or you're dealing with a situation in which a governor can declare himself dictator for life and no one can do anything about it.

I'm in the I-fucking-love-this-guy wing of the Democratic Party!

      •  The governor doesn't exist in a vacuum (4+ / 0-)

The people of Wisconsin know what's at stake. You don't think Walker is facing enormous pressure on this?

Do you really think a dyed-in-the-wool extremist republican like Scott Walker cares in the least about ANY "pressure" not exerted by his own Party, and/or its paymasters?

Barring a recall, he's in power in the Governor's seat for the foreseeable future, the Republicans have a majority in the legislature, and a radical agenda to enact.

Power is ALL it is about with these creatures, and once they have it, the only "pressure" they care about is the thought or chance of losing it.

And if they can do enough damage accomplish their agenda in their terms of office, they might not even care about that.

      •  Sorry, and I know this will sound mean, (1+ / 0-)

but I wouldn't want your attitude on my side for anything I'm fighting for.    I find your attitude to be one of a defeatist, so I would never want your help.

or you're dealing with a situation in which a governor can declare himself dictator for life and no one can do anything about it.

I have so much more faith in THE PEOPLE than you do.

No one can do anything about it?  Ha!
