after going to ActBlue  for WI Senate Dems and report that Mr. 3goldens and I made our contribution.  We'll add more to our initial contribution every couple of weeks.  Jon Erpenbach is my State Senator and I am very proud of him.  Then, I have to report a "downer"--I wrote Herb Kohl, our only Dem. Senator in DC and asked him to speak out on this issue.  After FOUR DAYS (because Herbie is such a busy little shadow) I got my response today and it was rather "testy" IMO.  He pointed out that this is a STATE matter and since he's in the FEDERAL government, he didn't feel the need to say or do anything since it doesn't apply to his job.  But he did direct me to a toll free number to call my STATE Senator and Assemblywoman (as if I don't already have their office numbers of speed-dial!).   Apparently Herb the Chicken didn't remember that he IS a DEMOCRAT and he SHOULD be backing the State Senate Dems.  He's such a loser.   Once again living up to my name for him:   THE EVER-INVISIBLE HERB KOHL.

    •  Forgot the REAL irony here: (5+ / 0-)

I don't know if he still does this, but over the past several years, Herb Kohl has sponsored a contest for "Teacher of the Year" in WI and the "prize" included money for additional training/education plus the recognition.  Hmmm... and now when the teachers as a group need him, Herbie is ducked down and hiding under his desk.  Jesus.

segment last night that I referenced above. It's titled The Survival of the Democratic Party. But I guess he isn't worried about fundraising.

      •  He's getting up in years so I kind of (0+ / 0-)

don't expect him to run again (he just got re-elected in 2008).  He's a millionaire anyway--he owns the Milwaukee Bucks and is a member of the Kohl family that at one time owned Kohl's Department stores.  He's basically bought himself that Senate seat and he is sometimes more Republican-behaving than a Democrat.  I will not miss that worthless man when he retires.  How he and Russ Feingold could be from the same state is a definite mystery.

he's also the owner of the Milwaukee Bucks. This pay cut is going to put the cost of going to Bucks games out of the reach of many fans. He has a stake in this beyond his role as a Senator. Unless he plans to rip out all the seats in the Bradley Center and replace them with luxury boxes for Walker's pals he should think about what effect this will have on his team's revenues.

      •  He also built the Kohl Center (0+ / 0-)

on the UW-Madison campus where the Badger basketball teams and hockey teams (men and women) play.  That is the crappiest building--three tiers of seating and unlike the Bradley Center, NO escalators.  I can't believe they aren't scraping senior citizens off the staircases with heart attacks.   There is ONE elevator to be used by handicapped folks.  That's it.  Herbie sure kept his checkbook closed on that one.
