...happen. The Turks won't come. The Ottomans ran Libya (or parts of it) from 1551 to 1911 when the Italians came in, remaining until the British kicked them out in '43. And while the Turks are somewhat popular in Libya at the moment because of their soap operas and the government's strong stance on Gaza, Libyans are not likely to support an occupation of any kind. Although, that might be one way to unite them.

Evidently the Libyan government refused permission for a evacuation flight of Turkish Nationals today.
I'm not keen on Ottoman history, other than the genocide that isn't spoken of, that unexplained dying-off of Armenians,
      in the WWI timeframe.
I believed however, the Ottoman times were only memories
to most people, and I was unaware of issues with modern Turkey, formed in 1923.

That said, I can't bring another regional government to mind that has a professional army, and a predominantly muslim identity.

As a "peacekeeping" force, if not an army of occupation, would you agree that the Turks would be better than the Iranians, Saudis, or a European country with a colonial past?
Africa has enough unrest, I can't see that as a solution.

San Martino, Malta, and Monaco might join with Andorra, but I'm not holding out hope.

I have many a friend in Casablanca, but somehow, just because you despise me, you are the only one I trust. ~ Ugarte.

      •  Greeks have a very long memory re: Turks (0+ / 0-)

Especially after 400 years of occupation.

I don't think any nation will accept foreign occupation esp. the Turks

I believed however, the Ottoman times were only memories
        to most people
