      is making some buzz, echoing the rejection of colonialism of mid last century.  There may be some talk of a federalized state across the Maghreb.

        … prevent the various Arabian "provinces" and their local power-holders from being played off against each other by outside powers.

          will make Glenn's blackboard spin, but still.  Might make sense, at least on a regional basis, Egypt to Mauretania.

          Africa, below the sahel is moving closer to a unified economic and security structure.  

          It might be time.  Bad for the foreign multinationals, but they really haven't improved rights and dignity in the client states either, it is a failed model.
