  •  I plan to write a history book for my children (7+ / 0-)

The generation before me brought this country forward that as a child I took all for granted. I thought that my generation would move forward keep the march forward. As I sat as a latch key child I thought it was all for the good. It was for my future which would be brighter than my parents. Now my parents and the generation that brought us forward are crashing down, ripping apart not only their work but the work of generations before them. Setting fire to all the progress made and like Nero playing the fiddle while it burns.

I have been alienated from my entire family over my beliefs. I have been shunned by my mother. For a southerner this is a big deal, where I come from conversations often started with "Who are your people." I watch my family howl at the moon, cutting their noses off to spite their faces.

History books are written by the winners, I want my children to know the truth, know what to strive for, how far they have to go to what we had before they can go further. I may not be a great writer, but I think they should know.

This doesn't mean I have given up. I am just in shock, at a lost, confused, chasing my tail not knowing where to even start. My husband always says that when building camp always start clearing around the fire and move out. The fire is my home.
