  •  Steve is good (8+ / 0-)

He used to be on the blogroll, but something happened. I've seen him on AJE several times. Very smart guy.

I don't feel too bad. I know that some more people are going to get killed, but the international community did move. They didn't send any planes anywhere but maybe it's not necessary. We had eyewitness reports of planes strafing people and mercs shooting people with .50 cal machine guns, and firing anti-tank rockets at people, and so many other things, and they definitely did bomb their own military bases...

...but they didn't actually bomb people. So I have been over the line a few times. But I'm not a journalist. What's more...they could have bombed people. There's no shame in hollering for governments to prevent something that could easily have happened.

Gaddafi may be a problem for a while but it's over, he can't "come back" and run the country. Once the people of a country have risen up to the degree we're seeing in these revolutions - well, we all have to adjust our thinking to the 21st century because 20th century assumptions are trashed.

This is material for quite a few books on sociology. It's something about the age of the populations, the level of unemployment - and even after so long, it's STILL the implantation of a kind of mythology that it fed by Western made entertainment, that gets blended into their own cultural mythology.

Sociology trumps political science; the unknown, for now, trumps the known. Burn your briefing books and open your eyes.
