  •  May be time to call in a 2007 campaign pledge (3+ / 0-)

made by our President Barack Obama:

"And understand this: If American workers are being denied their right to organize and collectively bargain when I’m in the White House, I will put on a comfortable pair of shoes myself, I’ll will walk on that picket line with you as President of the United States of America. Because workers deserve to know that somebody is standing in their corner."

And if the Republicans cry foul, and decry this show of partisanship, well that will make it all the better.  I'd sure like to see our president do more than say a few general words of encouragement and take a principled stand for Democratic Party ideals. Not much to lose anyway, given Republicans already seem dead set on causing a Federal government shutdown and hope to torpedo the funding of every good or fairly decent thing that's been accomplished in the first couple of years.  The president would probably rise even more in popularity by siding with Wisconsin's citizens, teachers, civil service, police and fire fighters, against a Republican administration intent on union busting, middle-class crushing, sacrifice-imposing on all the average folks all so hundreds of millions in tax cuts can be given to the wealthiest Republican cronies.  That's the Republican sort of partisanship that must be named, confronted and ended.

Mr. President, please put on your comfy shoes and lift up a sign of solidarity with America's threatened citizens.  The threat to our citizen's security is coming from the Republicans put into state governor's chairs by wealthy elites, and their reverse Robin Hood strategy to benefit the rich on the backs of the poor, retired, working and middle classes must be confronted and stopped. Help us draw this line and defend it now!
