anything worse happens, like massive "at Risk" of layoff notices going out.

At this point, he could still claim victory for the financial aspects of the bill going forward, and he can claim to be ending his "principled stand" in an effort to move forward on restructuring the State's debt before the upcoming deadline.

Sadly, for Governor Wanker, he's not very smart, and he'll almost certainly continue acting like a damn fool!

negotiating situation where all he can do is escalate.

he thinks he'll  be the next President if he wins this thing.

      he will do the layoffs.

      and nothing else will change.

and he will do even more and larger layoffs as a further escalation.

too bad this thing can't bring him down in time to avoid that ..but it wont.this has some time delay to it.

this is going to get much much uglier before it gets has been and continues to be in an escalation spiral, and nothing at the moment suggests that will change anytime soon.

"out" and play it your way, if this didn't go "national"..

I think the spin you suggest wouldn't fly would be judged to be him "backing down", and losing the fight..
at least he has got to be looking at it that way now..

if it stayed local and he played it smart he would do as you say..
