    I like Walker Evans a lot - his depression photos and industrial photography is second to none. As for a diary - a definite maybe.

    Check out the 'This one is a real treat' link in the useful links section - page 13 on of the pdf if you haven't already. It is an interview with Evans - staunch in his opposition to photography being used as a political tool which put him in opposition with a lot of his contemporaries. He gives an entertaining interview.

      he is asked about the book "Let Us Now Praise Famous Men" and says on p. 14 of the PDF

      Oh yes. That of course is the most conspicuous thing I've done, entirely due to Agee. I have a lot of false renown because I was working with a tremendous man.

      But it was the photographs that made the book, I think. And Agee had a lot of praise for Walker Evans.

      But I must get back to Paul Strand.
