  •  Are Americans really starting to drift Irish? (2+ / 0-)

The last election, the US electorate returned the House to the control of the party that precipitated the financial crisis in the US during the Bush years.  The only banking and securities reform that was being done was initiated by the Democrats, such as it is, with the only real truth being uttered by Senator Dick Durbin who when referring to the US Congress said something like "the banks own the place."  It looks to me that the US, with the exception of some in the union movement, has totally bought in to the Republican "ownership" agenda and has voted consistently to let the private sector take the profits and let the public sector assume all the risk.  The notion that banks are "too big to fail has faded into the background" as all that anyone worries about is the stock market casino and how it affects their 401K.  Americans have not been dissuaded from the desire to own that big house on the hill, since they all want to join the country club with "that bastard" rather than "get him."

The last election, the US electorate returned the House to the control of the party that precipitated the financial crisis in the US during the Bush years.

Because Obama and Reid fucked things up beyond all belief, that's why.  In 1932, the Dems had 59 seats in the Senate - and after the 1934 election, 69 seats.  After the 1936 election (and FDR's biggest margin of his 4 elections), 76 seats.  Despite the fact that FDR "hadn't solved all the country's problems in xyz months".  Why?

Because they actually gave a shit about someone other than bankers and military contractors.   Since 2008, the Republicans have gotten even more crazy and more unpopular - losing to them is as pathetic as losing a game of chess to a chicken.

Because Democrats have forgotten (or more appropriately, ignored) their Truman:

“You give the American people the choice between a fake Republican and a real one, and they’ll pick the real one, every time.”

don't try to play 11th dimensional chess. If you do, you'll lose to a chicken?

Is that the moral of the story?

        Great post U...
