So they can force the Democrats to fix the deficits they created whenever the Dems get into power.  That will cause the Dems to receive all the backlashes while they got all the credits for the generous gifts.

They had thetwo Santa Clauses plan since Raygun.

Did you hear any Republicans complaining about the huge deficits during the Bush years even though all the tax cuts did for the US was the Great Recession ?

That the GOP was oblivious to the deficit when they were in power, but now that the economy is bad and people are suffering they are willing to sabotage the economy with cuts to things that help the middle class rather than ask the rich to pay their fair share, and states governed by the GOP are STILL cutting taxes for the wealthy and then calling for the cuts to the middle class.

      •  Clinton cut welfare (1+ / 0-)

I know people who said they voted for Republicans because the Democrats (as represented by Clinton) cut welfare.  At that time, I was shocked that they would blame Democrats for cutting welfare and vote for Republicans.
Now, I understand a little better.  Most of them are not that politically-sophisticated and only saw on the surface that it was Clinton who cut welfare.
And all the cuts that Obama agrees to under pressure from Republicans will be blamed entirely on him also, especially since he makes it sound like a good sensible thing to do without much protest.

Dems seem to fall for this 3-decade old trick all the time.
