    faith can also be a beautiful thing, depending upon the context.

    And context, of course, is everything.  It is the struggle over and about contexts of course, that provide the underlying source of most human conflicts.

    what is scary is the misuse of faith, something humans as a species are uniquely skilled at.   If we sought to do away with everything that humans abuse and take advantage of, there would be no society, probably no humans.

    so eliminating the thing we don't like because of the danger that humans will misuse it, is in the end a self-defeating endeavor. And somehow, it is also anti-human, to boot.

    I think instead, that all we've got is the recognition that it is our job as human beings to just stand up to those abuses where ever we see them (no many how many times other human beings have had to stand up to them before). I often catch myself thinkin' that this responsibility is simply the premium we humans have to pay for getting that "dominant species of the planet" role in the cosmic lottery.
