    What exactly is it?  (I'm assuming it's a horribly expensive Class A stereo amp.) All those glowing tubes remind me of my high school electronics classes. But we never worked with anything nearly that classy.

      It's a Dynaco ST-70.  They were sold as mail-order kits from 1959 to the late 80's.

      You can get reproduction kits now, but they are pretty pricey at about $700, and you need to solder it all together, of course.
