  •  NM-SEN: hopefully Dems can learn (1+ / 0-)

from what happened to the GOP in 2008, where Pearce and Wilson had a tough primary and it helped the Dem, Tom Udall, to win. I'm not saying there shouldnt be a competitive primary, but I hope the potential top tier challengers(particularly Martin Heinrich and Hector Balderas), are talking to each other, to avoid having a messy primary that hurts the eventual nominee. Because this race really should be at least lean Dem, with Balderas or Heinrich, regardless of the GOP candidate.

I bet Wilson will run for her old seat instead of senate.

Reading in the comments at SSP, that she will announce a bid for Senate on Monday. But I suppose she could switch if Heinrich runs. I dont know a lot about Balderas, and I wouldnt mind if Heinrich ran for re-election, and Balderas ran for Senate, so we dont have another swing-ish House to defend.

I hope Heinrich stays right where he is. Balderas is a solid candidate, and there isn't much difference between Heinrich and Balderas ideologically, so there's no reason for both of them to run.
