that suit to release the 8000 or 19,000 emails in support of Walker that he claims to have received? Its underway. Heard a blurb this morning that the Walker side is complaining because it would cost $31,000 (as usual an  instant number! And we all have 7.5 million reasons for doubting the man!) in copying fees to comply with the Freedom of Information suit.

OTOH, there are 80 cops reported to be on (overtime) duty at the capitol. (With only 100 demonstrators beings allowed in at a time they are practically playing one-on-one! Is that good basketball?)
These are off-duty deputies from all around the state called up to put in overtime. Now I have NO idea what overtime for WI cops is, but what if regular time (and PLEASE correct me with better numbers if you know, people!) is $30/hour? Thats about $60,000/year gross; a lot less after deductions for taxes, pension, health, union dues, etc.

But if it is $30/hour, and if time-and-a-half (you know, that pesky requirement the unions won for us years ago?) that would be $45/hour.
    Times an 8 hour shift = $360
Times 80 cops = $28,800 PER DAY for all the "extra security" that has been going on the last few days (as opposed to that wonderfully supple and understanding policing for the prior 3 weeks....which was obviously a LOT cheaper!!)

And both of these are wise examples of "fiscally conservative"/"budget balancing" conservatism HOW???

    Just askin'.

      Numbers according to Moammar Walker:

      Pick a number.  Any number.

$7.5 million to repair the Capitol from all those "slobs"?  Sure.  Sounds good.  Nevermind that when the Capitol architect comes in and finds not only no damage, but adherence to his request to use Blue Painters Tape to post signs to prevent any damage.  Ignore the facts.  They're liberally biased, anyway.

Cost for massive goon squad?  Ignore it.  Add it to the deficit and add a 10% salary cut for state employees to pay for it.  It's their fault, anyway.

Layoff a few hundred (or thousand) more public servants.  By the way, are we laying off the 600 we estimated earlier, the 1500 we said later, or the 5,000-6,000 we ratcheted it up to?  Nevermind, I'll present a new, even scarier number.  That'll show 'em.

Cost of lawsuit?  No worries.  Add it to the deficit and demand even bigger wage cuts.  At this rate, state employees will be working for free!

"These protesters are a bunch of slobs" -- Wis State Sen Grothman (R-Wingnuttia). Who knew one day it would be heroic to be called a slob.

Walker doesn't seem to realize his unwillingness to compromise portrays a LACK of leadership skills - and makes people wonder just how far he'll go and how much state money will be spent to continue his intrangience - and why he's so determined.

If the GOP did ONE thing to help the average worker, Unions would donate to THEM.

    •  $30 per hour??? (0+ / 0-)

Wow, I wish my husband made that much. More like in the $20's per hour range.  Some of the smaller departments up north may $13 to $15 per hour. Hubby worked at the Capital this weekend and did say it was overkill with the amount of law enforcement. He said every one was very nice and they have a great  system set up(the protesters) with their own parade Marshals.

I think most of the cops are coming from smaller departments. Dane County and Madison PD are not working at the Capital.

And no most of the cops working at the Capital are not supporters of Walker. Actually hubby said he didn't talk to one cop that did support Walker.

      •  $30/hour was a pure guess (0+ / 0-)

I plugged in a number, thinking $30/ hour is modest enough to pay someone to enforce the law at high personal risk.

Well ratchet it down, but in any case there is a LOT of money being spent for complete waste, having 80 police for 100 demonstrators.

        Thanks for the feedback.
