  •  So why vote for Obama next year? (6+ / 0-)

I realize that, barring a miracle of incredible proportion, his opponent will be someone who will be a much worse president than he has been or will be, but I don't think that matters.

Our only prayer for saving the country is to reform the Democratic Party, the only way to do that is to get people like Obama out of it, the only way to do that is to make them electoral liabilities and the only way to do that is to stop voting for them.

Refusing to support the Democratic presidential candidate can't result in us losing clout with the party because we don't have any. We may have, in the words of Markos' premature victory lap of a book, crashed the gate, but we're still relegated to cleaning out the mansion's toilets with our tongues.

If our Democratic candidates aren't going to stand up to Republicans, we may as well just vote for the Republicans. At worst, we'll get the same result, just a few years sooner. At best, the good Dems who remain in office may no longer feel they have to act cautiously to protect the bad Dems and start standing up for what's right.

Look at what the Dems did with majorities in both houses of Congress and the presidency and look at what they're doing in Wisconsin with minorities in both houses and a Republican governor.

    Which do you prefer?
