This guy and his disciples of "oppositionality" say that "people are most caring when they're upfront about their disdain for each other. Only then, he says, can people trust one another."

I met Hate Man when he was just starting out.  I was maybe 13 and headed to Moe's Books in Berkeley.  He came up to me and said, "You know that you hate me.  Say that you hate me."  I had Asperger's and no clue, so I looked him in the eye and replied, "How can I hate you when I don't even know you?"  He smiled and said "Good answer."  I'm not sure whether I got him on a good day, or he was simply responding positively to the fact that I took him seriously.
