It's a good day.  So for I've read two diary commentaries that are positive and are focused on the prime objective of everyone who decides to contribute to this site, proving how much better our ideas are.  The one thing I don't understand is, during the 08 election, Obama had a email list of donors and activists that could be used as a awesome tool for a continued grass roots movement.  If we are to win the war of ideas, it would be powerful weapon that could help us to organize.  I'm on every Democratic lists and all I've ever received is a request for donations.  That was probably because at that time I could afford it.  Now I'm a victim of this Great Recession and can't afford to ever think about a contribution.  That list could be used to put progressives in the different parts of the country to link up with other like-minded people and forge an ongoing infrastructure at the heart of the Progressive Movement. This would be an awesome weapon in the war for the soul of this country.  I mean this in the most sincere way, we are right.  They are wrong.  The economic catastrophe was proof that in the 21st century Conservatism is not the answer.  To quote good old Ronnie, Government is the only solution not the problem.  OK, I took a bit of liberty with the quote but you do get my drift.  Allowing the United States to be run by corporate governess is insane.  What was it Einstein said, insanity is someone doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome?  Well we're putting the people in charge that were the direct cause for the mess we're in now.  If we who are committed to grass root progressive solutions, we must use the social networking capabilities that are, at this moment, changing the Middle East.  It can be done here if we just loose the immense cynicism that I think is a big impediment to our cause.  If we can use the tools available we might just do it.  Keep up the good calls.

These are the times that try men's souls.

    •  I agree with you about that (0+ / 0-)

list.  We could have been mobilized at a number of points.  I did get requests to sign petitions (and donate) by a bunch of senators and Alan Grayson.

But it was Repower America that organized a couple of sit downs with Sen. McCaskill's staff about our ideas. I had never gotten that opportunity to go to an office in person.  (God knows they get letters, emails and calls from me!)

I envision that we ought to have a monthly pocket of people go down in person to the local office of our reps.
