  •  I think Wisconsin is a mere distraction. (6+ / 0-)

I am beginning to suspect that the GOP has come up with a plan to fill every cycle with one huge distraction.  While Walker's bill has everyone salivating over the effort to remove workers' rights, the GOP is doing nefarious things all over the country.  And even if he had conceded the collective bargaining issue to get the bill passed, he would have still gotten provisions allowing him to sell off state assets for whatever price he wanted, and cutting BadgerCare and many other reactionary provisions.  The Kochs would still get a lot of goodies if this bill had passed without the collective bargaining provision.

And meanwhile Michigan grants its governor the right to dismiss elected municipal officials and consolidate school districts and sell off whole municipal governments to corporations.

It's like the 2010 elections where the whole world focused on Christine O'Donnell, who was not a witch but somehow made a whole slew of ridiculous house candidates disappear from the radar until after they were elected.

It's like the Republicans keep telling us, "Hey! Look at that shiny bauble over there while we pick your pocket over here."

I'd rather stand with the down-trodden than lie with the wealthy.

Republicans.  However, it may be distracting Democrats.

Many people after tthe last election only saw the 60 seat Republican gain in Congress.  The really big gain was in State legislatures.  Many States like Wisconsin and Michigan and others have not had Republican control in decades.  Democrats took their eye off the ball and assumed that State Republicans would sit aroud and do nothing.

And don't take your eye off the ball, again.  Redistricting is next!
