  •  Why didn't NPR fight? Why the resignations? (1+ / 0-)

That's the part I don't understand.  The guy whose words were chopped up for the tape must have known how fake it was, he was there.  And surely he could have simply told the director it was a patchwork of lies, and that they needed to push back and obtain the unedited footage.

Instead, immediately, they simply resign?  It's incomprehensible to me.

Shirley Sherrod said the same thing to people who were also more concerned about how things looked and how it might reflect on them than they were about the truth.

    •  I think maybe, in both cases... (1+ / 0-)

they were probably already getting harassed and pushed around by Republican installed twits there, and getting fed up, and were ready to leave, anyway, maybe?

Especially knowing they were unlikely to get a fair hearing or resolution...these incidents may have just been a last straw excuse to do what they had already decided was inevitable.

I'm sure NPR has already lost a lot of it's best talent, many of whom have probably left in disgust of their own accord, which unfortunately also leaves those remaining, with principles and determination, trying to hang in there, more or less isolated and powerless, and vulnerable.

Kinda like those progressives who keep slogging it out in Congress, against all odds, hoping conditions will change for the better, eventually, and doing what they can, meanwhile, to defend what has been built and accomplished over so many years of struggle, from Republican attempts to tear it all down.

Democracy is the most fundamental revolutionary principle. Information is the ultimate key.
