  •  Treason: Deliberate Sabotage of Democracy (0+ / 0-)

I mean, let's face it, this is not merely about making himself some money, or getting attention.

He, and his enablers are hell bent on distorting, thwarting and destroying the democratic process.  I can't think of a much more heinous crime.

If he had raped or murdered somebody, that would be very bad...but by sabotaging democracy he seeks to facilitate the rape and murder of millions.

Democracy is the most fundamental revolutionary principle. Information is the ultimate key.

    •  Treason? Really? (0+ / 0-)

Please find me anywhere in the history of treason law in the U.S. that "deliberate sabotage of democracy" through political lying has ever been considered a treasonous offense.

The path you would have us go down is a totalitarian path, where any political opponent could be accused of "distorting, thwarting, and destroying the democratic process" and thus locked away (or worse) for treason. I don't want anyone deciding what that means, because odds are our opponents would eventually get to decide (unless we managed to get them all locked up or worse first).

Criminalizing political opinions or nonviolent political actions is one of the first steps to the most heinous forms of political oppression.

You prefer, perhaps, the dictatorship of monopoly corporate fascism?

Regulation of speech is substantially precedented in this country, and there's no reason not to update and fine tune such precedents...as long as that is done from the left, heh.

I mean, I can dig not wanting to see what such regulations would become, under the present right wing dictatorship...

Clearly, the only way any such regulation could be reasonable, just, and legitimate, would be if it was done democratically, by explicit electoral mandate.

But then, again, this is not going to happen in any material, let alone benficial manner, under a right wing dictatorship.

First, we must seize the power, with a substantial progressive/moderate Democratic super-majority, sufficient to crush the right...democratically, electorally, legislatively, and judicially.

We don't "need" a criminal, seditious, fascist "oppostion", to be democratic.

Democracy is the most fundamental revolutionary principle. Information is the ultimate key.
