I don't think there have been TV ads yet, but maybe it'll be worth polling in the final weekend.

One other difficulty is that it's a non-partisan race, which means no party labels in the voting booth - and which means you can't try to get a generic sense of things by asking "the Democrat JoAnn Kloppenburg or the Republican David Prosser" in a poll. I mean, you could, but I'm not sure that would be meaningful.

I'm sure the corporate money will gush for Prosser, starting any day now.

I do know that I've got home-printed Kloppenburg signs in the window of my home and car, on my bike and on the notepad portfolio I carry around everywhere.  I've never had anything near the motivation to do anything like that before, for any candidate ever.  And that I heard chanting on the Capitol Square:

      What's the word?
      KLOP-PEN-BURG!

This kind of energy around a Supreme Court election in Wisconsin is big, and it's not business-as-usual.

A poll the weekend before the final weekend would be more useful. Especially with good crosstab information to help targeting. A poll the final weekend, as I am sure you know, gives too little time to be useful to anybody. It would be fun to see poll results the day before the election and compare to the real thing, but really not useful.

But we are already REALLY close to the election, which is April 5, just three weeks away. So 10 days out might still not be "late" enough to poll, if the candidates go on the air very late. I guess we'll see!
