  •  Beautiful photos of a great national treasure (9+ / 0-)

I lived at Mammoth Hot Springs for a summer back in 1970, working for Yellowstone Park Company as a reservationist.  We'd work our 8 hour days and then go hiking or backpacking.

It was a summer that I'll never forget.

at Lake Lodge in '73. Hard work - standing on concrete pulling heavy, wet sheets from a hamper then feeding them into a ginormous mangler, 6 days/week, at least 8 hours/day - for little pay - $1.65/hr and they took out for room & board - plus we had to give them a $25 deposit that we only got back if we stayed through the end of the contract - but it was a fabulous experience.

We had to walk past a moose to get to the cafeteria - I skipped a lot of meals. ;-)
