  •  Not only did he say it (10+ / 0-)

but he went out of his way to say it.  Not just as a remark in conjunction with making another point, but he actually got to his feet just to say that.

I know that this kind of disgusting crap has been just under the surface in this country forever, but I find it shocking that an elected state official in this country, in this day and age, can think it is acceptable to advocate for racism and even murder on the floor of a U.S. state legislature.

With this kind of action, he has shown himself unworthy to be an elected representative of anyone.  Anything less than censure and expulsion by the Kansas legislature is just not enough.

    •  Good point - "went out of (5+ / 0-)

      his way to say it".

      with malice aforethought.

Appropriations Chairman Marc Rhoades, said Mr Peck’s comment was inappropriate.

Mr Rhoades said he thought Mr Peck was joking, but added, 'Hopefully he won’t do it again.'

so good for him for registering a criticism.  Not that some full-throated outrage wouldn't have been even better!  But if a fellow-R can admit "inappropriate", that's a smidgin of progress.
