      mutations can happen without radiation.  So it isn't a true statement, in fact it's not even close to true.

        You may be right. I assumed most mutations (not all) were a consequence of radiation from the sun and stars, but as I reflect on it, I'm not sure if that's true either. DNA damage can also happen on its own, and of course, on reflection, mutations can take place from the shuffling that usually takes place...
