    Bottom line is that these tough-minded women (who thought they were open to change) came face to face with their own biases and rather launch a full scale assault on them, found comfort in the ease of upholding them.

    yes, those goes past the superficial like location, timing and childcare options.  Timing, location, childcare options could be perfect but unless the biases are gone, it won't change much.  And then it becomes, well we tried...no need to do so.

      I think the author's correct, that being anti-racism should be fundamental to any meaningful feminist agenda. Equality, throughout society. If it isn't... Well, people feel that. They know. And the window dressing of "location, timing and childcare options," like you said, become moot points of appeal.
