commercials by both Kryzan and Powers slagging each other, especially in the waning days of the campaign. If either one of them had stepped aside, had they joined forces against crazy Jack, Chris Lee might never have had his chance to strip for Craig's List.

    •  I'll defer to you (0+ / 0-)

Since it sounds like you're in the district (or nearby). And yeah, that was definitely one that got away.

      •  Yes, I live here. And I've met Chris Lee. (0+ / 0-)

Congressional politics in our sleepy rural area have actually been quite entertaining in recent years. For a while I was depressed because I live just about 5 miles from the border between NY-26 and NY-29, so I couldn't vote for Eric Massa against the alcoholic maniac "shotgun" Randy Kuhl. Massa had a local radio show in Hornell in the months leading up to the election, and he was both progressive and very funny. But we all know how that turned out.

The slow-motion train wreck of Jack Davis vs Jon Powers vs Alice Kryzan was simply excruciating, because a really decent red-to-blue opportunity was frittered away. Probably for a long time, because the corporate-sponsored Republicans are already carpet-bombing the air-waves for Alice Corwin, and local folks are spitting mad about the crappy economy and high gas prices, and as a result they're chugging the "cut spending" Kool-aid.
