  •  A couple of thoughts: (4+ / 0-)

    1) Rape is a crime of power using sex, not a crime of sex, so how one is dressed means absolutely nothing.

    2) I think that Representative Passidomo is scared, as the mother of daughters, that it might happen to her girls, so she is deluding herself into believing that if she dresses them a certain way, or allows them to dress only in a certain way, they will be protected. She is absolutely wrong.

                     Just my two cents,

Torture is ALWAYS wrong, no matter who is doing it to whom.

I know it's been a fixture of progressives' understanding of rape for more than a generation, but its explanatory power seems quite limited except in cases where the attacker knows the victim.  Note that it's extremely uncommon for men to go out looking for female strangers just to beat the crap out of.

Todo tiempo pasado fue mejor. I don't believe that, but I hear this sig is permanent.

    •  YES. THANK YOU. (0+ / 0-)

I think this has all been dangerously miscovered. Believing — falsely or no — that dressing modestly reduces the chance of being raped DOES NOT BLAME THE VICTIMS.

Think of defensive driving: The whole point is to avoid accidents, even those that wouldn't be your fault.
