  •  Salt storage doesn't make sense (0+ / 0-)

    Transmission of the heat from the tower by molten salt makes a lot of sense, but using it as storage doesn't compute.

    Because of the diurnal usage of electric power, especially in the southwest, it doesn't make sense to try and store heat unless you don't have the backup capacity to supply the electrical load, or you have excess solar capacity during the day.  We are far, far, from this happening.

    I doubt they'll be much storage.
