Edge-of-my-seat tension the way you are up-to-the-minute with the short list announcement.

I want to read at least half the books you listed.

Danticat is a staple at the Miami Book Fair every November.  Her fellow poet, Derek Walcott does frequent guest lectures, reading, and appearances at the FIU writers' workshop, for its creative writing program, and at the Book Fair.

VS Naipaul happens to be one of my favorite writers.  I think A House for Mr. Biswas is a masterpiece, possibly a nascent classic.  For me, he is the voice of post-colonial literature that boomed after his appearance on the literary stage.

Am really enjoying your series on literary prizes as one of my "rules of reading" is to read lit prix winners rather than best seller list makers.
