  •  First they made "liberal" a dirty word, (11+ / 0-)

and now they're going after "labor."  Sometimes I don't even recognize my country anymore.

This is not the country we grew up in.

Ideology is an excuse to ignore common sense.

As the son of a Steelworker and as a person who grew up in the '50's and '60's benefitting from the hard struggles of my father's union,  & as the son of an FDR/JFK Feminist who believed in and taught me the deep ideals of fair pay, good benefits and family-friendly work policies fought for by the Democratic Party and Progressive Labor Unions in the US, I am shocked at the change in the role of labor unions in the US since Reagan took down the PATCO Air Traffic Contollers and fired them all.  That was the beginning of the end for labor unions in our country.

Today I have posted on different threads on Kos and I find myself using the word "sad" in just about every post.  Something - some struggle - is emerging because the people, the workers of the US have nearly reached bottom.  Out of such suffering comes change and hope for betterment.  I see that happening, in Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio and other states.
