    throwing obstacles in the way of minority and poor voters.  

    It's hard for a lot of middle class people to understand that someone might not know how to get an ID, might not even have $10. to spend on an ID as opposed to other things at a given moment, and might more likely be one of the ones who have their wallets taken away or their homes burgled just before an election.  It's the latest version of a poll tax on people who have enough problems just surviving in this society in 2011.

    Throw enough obstacles in the way, and make it inconvenient, and hope that minority and poor people just don't bother to vote.  That is the only hope that the GOP has at the moment besides open racism.
