    ...and still think events could derail the coalition. The May elections and referendum on AV will be pretty devastating for the Lib Dems. Every  coalition they have formed in the last 150 years has been with the Tories - which basically absorbed everything but a rump each time.

    The cuts have not yet begun to bite. The lack of stimulus (unlike the US) means that growth is minimal, unemployment rising, and inflation beginning to soar.

    This will not end well for the Coalition, this year or the next.

      dems is perfectly happy in coalition with the Tories as they do share their economic ideology. It is whether or not the social dems and the left of the party will stay around.

      Those campaigning for AV have told Clegg to keep out of it as they are certain that he will sabotage the campaign just by his presence. They asked for Charles Kennedy to speak for the lib dems. We need to see; I am simply completely cynical about their sense of responsibility and principles over simple ego and power.
