..the Ne plus ultra of identity politics.

    how would you know anyway?

I've heard this so often from you and JesseinCw that I've now a standard proforma  xenophobia response to you both.

The laughable paradox is that, above, you're claiming to talk with some authority about UK politics. Note I don't use the same response on you: though, if you'd bothered to ask, I could have told how this Lib Dem deal would have gone down.

But instead you were urging Brits to vote Lib Dem

And irony rich diet can be bad for your health

    •  I didn't urge anyone (0+ / 0-)

to do anything -- not one UK voter.  I had my thoughts, that is it.  I don't go into UK blogs and tell them what to do or claim to be an expert on all things British.  I spend every day with someone, my SO, who was born and raised in England, so we are both interested in the goings on there and we tend to keep up with it to some extent.

And if you take another look at my comment above, I am speculating and soliciting ny brit expat's opinion if she chooses to write about it, with respect to the Lib Dems.  Some of them are good eggs, from what I have learned from other comment conversations with ny brit expat, and others are no better than our neoliberals here.

And frankly, Brit, I don't know why you bother replying to any of my comments because you know that we can't even agree on the time of day, even when we both know the time differences between us, and the discrepancies between the UK and US daylight saving time dates.  (I'm glad that Britain is back to GMT + 5 for me now after a few weeks of having to remember they hadn't switched yet.)

GMT - 5, I should have said.  Told you we would't agree ;)  Add five to my time EDT + 5.

      •  I'm in the same position as you... (0+ / 0-)

I have many family who are US citizens (my aunt, myself and both my brothers married Americans) and of course - as I've told you - I've lived, studied and worked there.

Yet somehow this is all about me 'telling Americans what to do'. I'm not, any more than anyone sharing any opinions is 'telling people what to do'. These are statements, usually in the conditional, and rarely the imperative. And even if the latter, you're not proposing that people are so dull of mind as to do what a stranger on the internet tells them.

I'm happy to cease dialogue - but the point of my comments, and indeed NY expat's diary, is that comparative lack of solidarity on the left in the US. Forgive me for trying to have some dialogue. You've clearly closed your mind to this in quite a decisive, and ad hominem, way.
