  •  I like Jasper Fforde. (7+ / 0-)

Although I do prefer the Fairy Tale series - The Big Over Easy and The Fourth Bear.  I haven't run across a third one, but I sure hope there is or will be.  I like Detective Jack Sprat.

I am somewhat acquainted with Larry Niven - he mentored a friend of mine who wanted to write, and now does.  I really prefer his Gil Hamilton and Beowulf Shaeffer stories to anything else he's done.  Although I have been told there will be a fourth Dream Park book, and am very much looking forward to it.

I have Dragonflight, Dragonquest and White Dragon, and Nerilka's Story.  Also Dragonsong, Dragonsinger and Dragondrums.  I've read the others, but haven't found them to be keepers.

I liked the Maisie Dobbs stories on first reading, but they didn't really stand up to re-reading for me.  Carola Dunn's Daisy Dalrymple series, now, ....  There's a new one out - I'm getting it on payday.

came out a long time after the Dragonsong series, but it was really good.

I like the ones you mention best and there are several of hers I haven't read, but two of Todd's (or with Todd) were pretty good, I thought.

      I don't know Daisy Dalrymple...I will write it down...thanks!

I've read the others, but ....

Keep in mind that I like my light reading light - if you prefer darker mysteries, you might not like the Daisy Dalrymple books.

Carola Dunn was born and raised in England - and now lives in Eugene, Oregon, if I remember correctly.  I actually ran across her as an author of Regency romances (hers are fun), but I do enjoy her mysteries.
