    It's kind of interesting to see federalism at work in this whole fiasco, in that as far as I can tell it's still wholly contained within the Wisconsin political and legal systems, with no official role as yet for the federal government (although I suppose that there are federal constitutional issues here having to do with due process and such). Federalism has its downsides, but it does have its advantages, too, in that it doesn't require the central government to weigh in on everything, thus slowing everything down to a crawl as in other countries.

    This is a test case to see if federalism can sustain the 21st century challenges of radical conservatism, or if centrifugal forces can tear the republic apart.
