  •  It's looking less and (4+ / 0-)

less like elections are a feasible and effective way of fighting these things.  Citizens United and the massive amounts of money candidates need to raise has taken care of that.  I don't know where this leaves us, but so long as our electoral process is structured the way it is we're going to see a continuation of conservadems as the only type of dems in the party.  When the polls say one thing (wild support for certain policies) and we see our elected officials endlessly dragging their feet and pushing through pro-corporate, anti-middle class/working-class policies, you know they've been bought.

    •  I think, paradoxically, this is making (4+ / 0-)

"conservadems" unelectable in most places.  Democrats are demanding at least mainstream Democrats, or we don't vote for them.  The Senate is being cleaned out of the centrist Democrats.  After next year only Manchin, Baucus, and Pryor will be left, and we've gained great people like Jeff Merkley, Tom Udall, Sheldon Whitehouse, Al Franken and Bernie Sanders in the last five years.
